"It was a time that changed the world. And one man put it to music."

Among those attending the premiere of the film was Glenn Miller's mother, who thought the film good enough, but opined that her son was better-looking than James Stewart.
Second of three movies where James Stewart and June Allyson played husband and wife.
Harry Morgan, who plays Chummy MacGregor, co-starred with the real Glenn Miller in Orchestra Wives.
SPOILER ALERT!
The mystery of Glenn Miller's disappearance may have been resolved in recent years by the discovery of a RAF pilot's flight log. He was part of a flight returning from an aborted bombing raid that was ordered to drop their used bombs over the Channel. A small plane was observed straying into their path and was destroyed. That plane is now believed to be Miller's.
One of the three films June Allyson considered her personal favorites of her films.

Helen's fashions in the thirties and forties were straight out of the early fifties, when the movie was made.

In the scene where James Stewart and June Allyson arrive in their car and are hounded by fans for autographs, one of the eager fans accidentally smashes into Allyson's head prompting her to hold her hand up to her face while she smiles.

Jimmy Stewart left, Glen Miller right.
When Glenn is sitting up all night rewriting "Moonlight Serenade", the camera pulls back too far, revealing the edge of the set and a cable on the floor.

"The Glenn Miller Story" String of Pearls.

I love this movie!!
Who couldn't with it starring Jimmy Stewart and June Allyson!
But as usual I can't completely recommend it because it does have a few scenes that I completely skip over!
